The summer of 2009 I was the coordinator of the
ACS SEED program to UC Merced. The
ACS SEED program is a 9 week summer internship for
high school students with the primary goal of exposing
economically disadvantaged students to chemical
research and experience what it’s like being a
chemist. During the summer 2009 we had two high school
students from
Golden Valley High School in Merced
participate in research at UC Merced.
Ana Arteaga, working with my group on preparing copper
inverse opals
Brandon Hernandez, working with Prof. Anne Kelley on
modeling raman spectra of organic conductors
Past students:
-
- Graduated from Golden Valley HS in 2010
-
- Worked on metal oxide (ZnO and Fe3O4) coated
copper inverse opals
-
- Currently at UC Santa Cruz
