Hrant has been appointed Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate Division. As UC Merced's Graduate Dean, will oversee the university's graduate education and postdoctoral training portfolio, and serve on the Chancellor's Extended Cabinet and Deans' Council. He will be responsible for leading collaborative graduate education policy development and implementation, graduate student admissions, graduate program development and assessment, graduate student and postdoctoral professional development and support services, Graduate Division's budget planning and management, and leadership of Graduate Division's administrative units. Hrant will also serve as an ex officio member of the Faculty Senate's Graduate Council and as a member of the University of California's Council of Graduate Deans.
