University sermon in St. Mary's Church, Oxford, October 25th 1903, but
with the hope of reaching a wider audience". This highly academic
sermon contains some interesting statements relating to the North
Arabian, `Jerahmeelite theory' championed by Cheyne as well, for
example, as an affirmation of the now widely agreed upon `Kenite
hypothesis': "the Israelites were living with a North Arabian tribe
called the Kenites, they learned to worship the supreme deity of the
Semitic peoples under a new name --Yahu or Yahwê" (p.13).
