I am currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at the School of Natural Sciences, University of California, Merced, USA. Prior to this appointment I was a PhD fellowship at the Department of Mathematics, University of Innsbruck in Austria. I obtained my B.Sc. degree in mathematics from Hanoi National University of Education on June 2005, and my M.Sc. degree in Computational Mathematics from Vietnam National University (VNU) on November 2007. For the period from January 2008 to October 2010, I worked at Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) as an assistant researcher while holding an invited visiting lecturer position at the Genetic Bach Khoa international program-one of the partners of the Genetic Computer School, Singapore at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Hanoi University of Industry (HUI). Since fall 2010, I have been selected as a PhD position employed by the University of Innsbruck (see my page there) in the Numerical Analysis group. From March to August 2013, I was a visiting guest at the Numerical Analysis Group, Institute for Applied and Numerical Mathematics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. I received my Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from the University of Innsbruck on February 10, 2014.
My research is in numerical analysis and scientific computing. In particular, I am mainly interested in the following areas: time integration of ordinary and partial differential equations (ODEs and PDEs), exponential integrators, structure-preserving numerical integration of ODEs, meshfree methods, B-series, highly oscillatory problems, and splitting methods.
