June 19, Qinghua Guo (PI) received an award titled “ModelEco: Integrated Software for Species Distribution Analysis and Modeling” from NSF. $173,169

June 13, Honglei Liu passed her master thesis oral exam. Congratulations.

May 23, Otto Alvarez attended the commencement ceremony, and received his bachelor degree in Computer Science. Congratulations.

May 20, Qinghua Guo (PI) received an award titled “Mapping California Solar irradiance and its implications for power sector” from California Energy Institute. $34,744.

Available Positions

Postdoctral position & visting scholar:

Occasionally, my lab has postdoctral positions or visting scholar support available in the areas of GIS / Remote Sensing and environmental applications. Please email me to inquire about possible positions.

Graduate Research Assistantship in GIS, Remote Sensing and Ecological Modelling :

Ph.D. graduate research assistantships are available in the fields of GIS, Remote Sensing, and ecological modeling. Candidates should have background in environmental science, geography, ecology, computer science, statistics, or a related field with strong quantitative skills. Potential applicant should send CV and a briefly statement of research interests to Dr. Qinghua Guo at qguo@ucmerced.edu.

Undergraduate Research Assistantship (1 ~2 positions):

Undergraduate research assistant positions are available in a Varity of research activities in my lab. Research areas include GIS, Remote Sensing, and environmental modeling. Students should be familiar with GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS) for spatial data analysis. Programming skills (e.g. C++, Java, Python) are preferred.
