La mujer dormida (Rafael Trujillo Herrera)
México: Ediciones Botas, 1957

A novel set in Mexico City and its surrounding areas. It borrows from multiple earlier narratives (Pygmalion, the legend of Ixtacihuatl, the film The Seventh Veil), filtering them through the aesthetic theories of Victor Basch and Antonio Caso to tell the story of Sara, who was destined to pose for sculptor Gabriel Hernández's masterpiece. The author uses this plot to reflect extensively about art, aesthetics, literature, and music. Also of interest are his thoughts on Mexico.
