Course Development
In collaboration with
Prof. Aman Yadav from Michigan State University, Professor Martini developed a new course at UC Merced called "Design Thinking", with the support of a grant from the National Science Foundation. The purpose of the new course is to help students transition from classroom- and lab-based learning to engineering capstone design and ultimately to their careers in engineering fields. The approach taken was to use case studies as a way to learn and practice design thinking. Some of the case studies and case study worksheet developed for this course are available below.
Case Study Worksheet
Potato Harvester Case
IV Pole Case
Historic Aviation Case
Winery Case
